Run version 0.07 ================ Starts programs with redirections, without a shell, on systems with fork and on systems with a native spawn but no fork (Win32, OS/2, VMS): spawn LIST like the builtin system, but in the background: the pid command trees new_system, new_and, new_or, new_chain, new_pipeline, new_pipe, new_readpipe, new_env, new_redir: run as sh would run the same command line (use Run ':NEW') Run::start one program with a list of redirections, the layer the others are built on (used by Proc::Spawner where there is neither posix_spawn nor fork) Where there is no fork, the redirections are applied in this process around the spawn and put back after. Those code paths can be run and tested on Unix too ($Run::Forkless; $Run::AsWin32 for the Win32 ones). See the POD (perldoc Run) for the details and the limits. Tested on Linux (Perl 5.38), and on Win32 under Wine with Strawberry Perl 5.38.2. OS/2 and VMS are not tested. INSTALLATION perl Makefile.PL make make test make install DEPENDENCIES Only modules that come with Perl (on Win32 also Win32API::File, which comes with Perl there). Perl 5.10.1 or later.
